How
to Maintain Your Pearls
Pearls
are usually more vulnerable than other gemstones. Thus, they can be
scratched or damaged easily if keeping them together with other gems
or gold jewellery in a mass. Once a pearl is scratched, it cannot
recover through peeling or polishing. In fact, pearls can be preserved
for many years, provided that they are not physically scratched or
chemically eroded. To maintain the quality of your favourite pearls,
please be alert to the following Dos or Don’ts:
-
DOs
-
Keep your pearls away from other jewelleries.
-
Place a glass of water next to the pearls whenever your pearls
are exposed under spotlights.
-
After use, clean your pearls with distilled water.
-
Restring your pearl strands periodically to avert from thread
break.
- DON’Ts
-
Spray perfumes on your pearls directly.
- Wear
your pearls and do household or kitchen work.
- Clean
your pearls using an ultrasonic cleaner plus ammonia solution.
- Wear
your pearls and go to swimming pool or hot spring
